What is Bishop?
Chess Terms : Bishop Explained
The bishop is a chess piece that moves diagonally across any number of unoccupied squares. Each player starts with two bishops—one on light squares and one on dark squares—and each bishop is permanently confined to squares of one colour (colourbound). The bishop is valued at approximately three pawns (3 points). Two bishops working together (the bishop pair) are generally considered a significant advantage, especially in open positions with diagonals available.
