Chess Terms : Bronstein Delay Explained
Bronstein delay is a time control method named after Grandmaster David Bronstein. Under this system, the clock does not begin counting down immediately after a player's opponent moves; instead, there is a fixed delay period (e.g. 5 seconds) before the clock starts. Unlike the Fischer delay (increment), unused delay time is not added to the player's remaining time. The Bronstein delay ensures that a player never loses on time in a position where they can move quickly.
