What is Discovered Attack?

A discovered attack is an attack revealed when one piece moves out of the way of another. The moving piece uncovers (discovers) an attack by the piece behind it. Discovered attacks are powerful because they create two simultaneous threats—one from the moving piece and one from the uncovered piece. See also discovered check.
