What is Discovered Check?

A discovered check is a discovered attack in which the uncovered piece delivers check to the opposing king. The moving piece can go virtually anywhere—including capturing an undefended piece—since the opponent must first deal with the check. Discovered checks are among the most dangerous tactical weapons in chess. See also double check.
