Fivefold Repetition

Fivefold repetition is a rule under which the game is automatically drawn if the same position occurs five times (as opposed to threefold repetition, which requires a player to claim the draw). The fivefold repetition rule was introduced by FIDE in 2014 to prevent absurd situations where neither player claims a draw despite repeated positions.
