Knight

The knight is a chess piece that moves in an L-shape: two squares in one direction and one square perpendicular (or vice versa). The knight is the only piece that can jump over other pieces. Each player starts with two knights. The knight is valued at approximately three pawns (3 points). Knights are strongest in closed positions and on central outpost squares. The knight's symbol in notation is "N" (to distinguish it from the king, "K" ).
