Chess Terms : Queen Explained

Queen

The queen is the most powerful piece in chess, combining the movement of both the rook and bishop—it can move any number of squares along ranks, files, and diagonals. The queen is valued at approximately 9 pawns. Despite its power, the queen should generally not be developed too early, as it can become a target for tempo-gaining attacks.
