It might be, but an understanding of religion could be a formidable advantage. In the case of the Arabs, were they smart and had believed and understood the prophecies from the Bible, about the Jews returning to Palestine, they would have saved themselves trillions of $$$ and millions of lives, in a futile war against an undefeatable enemy, the Jews.

Has God always been there?

Why can't one apply the same logic to the universe? - Why can a God be uncreated but not the universe itself?

Life, without God is full of meaning and purpose. Didn't you know? Many of the most moral people I know don't have a morality dependant on religion. (And consciousness, like intelligence, evolved over time. It wasn't reliant on a creator).
