I say that if you're not interested in supporting the state you want to put your business in, not interested in paying your employees more, then, as a corporation, you can piss off and take your crappy corporation somewhere else where those citizens will be happy (presumably) to pay you welfare to come to their state. States basically paying extra welfare to the companies coming to their state are working their own systems backwards.

I will add to your observation that a major element of capitalism is that water seeks its own level. Businesses come, businesses go, but in the big picture growth has made our country the greatest in the world.. if the government had regulated all of that, that would not be the case. We would be more like Cuba.
