He escaped the death penalty. That was part of the plea deal I believe.
The insurance corps did not want it to go to trial. Because they would be dragged through the truth they don't want exposed in this high profile murder case. Too many people were paying attention.

Not an option unless you can prosecute him twice. That is where double jeopardy comes in. If his lawyers can get the state charges thrown out he does not get the death penalty. Right?

Try this . 1000 people live on an island . 50 people are milling about in the town square and all see a man walk up behind another man and shoot him the back. Murder.

Should he be hung? Like the next day? On the island? The only mitigating factor would be that 'I do not like this guy'.
