here is an idea for a chess variant. called 5 knights
8 x 14, no en passant, the pawns can move as many squares and they want, like the rook, they still capture like normal chess. they can't move backwards or sideways.
the first bottom row is set up like
Rook, knight, pawn, bishop, knight, pawn, knight, rook.
the second row is rook, knight bishop, queen, king, bishop, knight, rook.
the third row is all pawns.
