Hi Russ,
I asked you this a couple days ago and sent it through the proper channels with no responses. Is there another route I need to take to actually get some help here?
Hi ,
Today set on hard with puzzles on avg from 1800s - 2200s so far are only giving me between 5 and 12 points each from between 15 - 21 points on avg for each solved puzzle. I switched over to easy to see because that’s the range for them and it gives me 0 points each solved puzzle and medium 0 - 1 point.
Is something messed up, my brains not firing making progress hard enough. I should be at 2nd or 3rd position when the points are adjusted.
@mike69
Hello! Not sure if I read your post correctly, but if you are wondering why you are receiving fewer and fewer points from each new puzzle you solve, it is because the points received from a solved puzzle are reduced according to your current rating. This is the same principle applied to regular correspondence games and live games on this site (if you beat a 500, you might not receive any rating points at all because your rating is too high, and if you beat a 2000, you will experience a much larger boost in rating).
For example: Personally, once I reached the rating of about 2550?-2650? I had to skip ALL PUZZLES that were given a rating of under 2000, as my rating was simply too high to gain any more points from them. Currently I am only solving 2400+ rated puzzles as a result of this, but even solving a "2457" will only gain me 1 rating point. I hope this helped... π

Thank you for taking the time to answer, I appreciate it very much. This wasn’t gradual but overnight from normal to the lower points given the next day. I had only done them before in that three or so hour stretch and my rating is only 1299 so I’m not sure. It’s like 10 points for what they say is a 2030 puzzle but they follow the same pattern most of the time with some chess knowledge and three strikes. It wouldn’t bother me if I wasn’t trying to hit a certain rating with a certain amount of triesπ.

For goodness sake, give him a chance to reply.
Have you any idea how much feedback he gets.
Anyway, who gives a rats ass about a stupid score
@Martin saidI own you nothing and how I feel is none of your business along with my account. We’ve been cordial until now with one another and I’ve ignored a lot of post from you I could have jumped on. I will help you a little, I post originally in a thread he started over a new puzzle system he was talking about and today is the 4th day. Russ has been answering a lot of questions lately in the forums, especially on new things being started, never myself so I sent it to the site. They could have an automatic response that goes out saying something like we have received your help request Due to a large amount of ticket it may take 5 to seven business days to respond instead of pure silence on all fronts. Can you tell me how much feedback they get? The rest you can still piss off.

No offense, but a 1200 player leading the puzzles rating leaderboard is a slap in the face to chess.
#1 More puzzles stats are needed.
#2 Actual rating correlation is needed.
#3 The puzzles don't get harder, it's just points for most done, which is okay but it never improved anyone's chess.
#4 I like the feature but only one month recorded and generic points just for doing the puzzles feels wrong.
#5 nothing personal.
@PuzZuLz
I understand what you mean. Looking at the leaderboard, there are a lot of lower-rated players that have unusually high puzzle ratings. I do play on another website with chess puzzles, and the same situation seems to be happening over there too. This seems to be a common theme with puzzles; as players can anticipate a winning position without the stress of thinking that they are losing. This makes a player look at specifically "attacking" moves. This also narrows down which pieces are most likely to be moved. I particularly seem to suffer in solving a puzzle when the king is involved, since the king is hardly an attacking piece. I will say that the use of two prior attempts at moving a piece before losing rating is a factor I depended on to solve the puzzles, and perhaps the removal of this feature would "level the playing field." If this sounds good, or the changing of anything else about the puzzle feature, you could bring it up with @Russ, as I don't have much of a negative opinion about it, I just might stick more to puzzles from the other website (I also have more of an interest in the RHP live chess feature to be honest). None taken! π
