Ive had a couple of cheap pub pianos over the years. but i didnt get far with them. i remember trying to learn Codex by radiohead, a pretty simple tune. i was fine with the chordy parts but as soon as there was a hint of a melody it all fell apart.
The biggest problem people have with piano is both hands playing different moving lines. I practiced so much I got over that eventually. Yet I cannot play guitar to save my life.

Well, prepare yourself.

I know trombone, barely (the only brass I know). I know a LOT of woodwinds, saxophone mainly, with the very similar clarinet, and flute. No strings and no percussion (zero talent for those). But my favorite and what I'm best at, is piano. My BA is in Performance Piano. I know a ton of music theory, I could probably get a job teaching music at ...[text shortened]... nce my mom made me start lessons at 8 years old. I bought a baby grand in 2015. I love that thing.
Really nice that you have so many instruments you can play. But to say percussion takes no talent, I will say Neil Peart and Buddy Rich will no talent you to death. There are others. As a musician, if you are a soloist you need no help from your friends. But in a band, the drum is the backbone. They drive the train.

Secondary question. You said the trombone was the only brass instrument you played, but then you mentioned saxophone. I thought that was a brass instrument as well??

A sax is NOT a brass instrument. It’s a woodwind.๐Ÿ‘

I meant that I have zero talent for strings or percussion. I just cannot grasp the finer details of those instrument types. I've tried to learn guitar, for example, but I just can't wrap my head around it. Much respect for Carlos Santana and Neil Peart and many others.

Piano is like I was born to it.

Oh, no. Instruments are classified by how the sound is made. All sound is vibration. Brass instruments make their sound through the vibration of the lips, and they all have the same type of mouthpiece, just smaller or larger (french horn mouthpieces are tiny, by comparison). Strings vibrate the strings, naturally. Percussion is the vibration of the drumhead or the vibration of something you whack, like a xylophone or chimes or even something like a gong. Woodwinds vibrate a reed of some kind, clarinets, saxophones, even the double reeds like oboes. Flutes are different, slightly, in that what vibrates is air passing through or over the mouthpiece (this is why the flute embouchure (how you hold your lips) is different). Adolph Sax did us saxophone players no favors by making the instrument out of metal, or brass originally, but their sound is produced by a reed, making them a woodwind. There was great controversy over whether a piano is a stringed instrument or a percussion instrument (their vibration is caused and sustained by a felt mallet, hitting a string, or wrapped wire, like a guitar can be plucked). This led to a semi-new classification of keyboard instruments.

Thank you for the education. Obviously, I am not a musician.

Beethoven, Emperor Concerto, second movement--the most gorgeous piece of music I know--if someone plays that on my death bed, I shall die a happy man and go wherever it is that dogs go (if there are no dogs heaven, then send me where dogs go, cuz there's gonna be two waiting there for me).

When I whack my head, it rings in my ears. Am I a percussion instrument? But, as I'm falling down, I purse my lips and make a sound like pftpftpftpft--so am I a flugelhorn then?
